Flash / actionscript integration

Mike Chambers Blog mentions a possible component to make flash/java script and java script/flash communication easier, (ajax is mentioned and I wondered what is was and found ajax) I will be very interested to see where this goes.  I have the need for some decent integration for example on the new site for Bluetube we will have a news component that will work like a blog (without comments) and I'm debating on coding it entirely in flash, or doing it in HTML and If i do HTML it will need to call back to flash to launch the particular music or interactive project and take you to the correct place within the flash movie.  I've done flash to java script before but it always seems to be reinventing the wheel and half the evenings code is related to remembering how I did it last time, if their flash/java jobbie makes things simpler then it should be something I can use for Bluetube
